Early Life of Dr. Rajendra PrasadDr. Rajendra Prasad was born on 3 December 1884 in Jiradei village of Saran (present-day Siwan) district in Bihar. He was brought up with a lot of pampering and care. His elder brother Mr. Mahendra Prasad raised his younger brother Rajendra Prasad and helped him to get higher education.
Dr. Rajendra Prasad EducationHe completed his early education in Saran. He graduated from Presidency College, Calcutta (Kolkata). He also earned a master's degree in law. He was an exceptionally gifted student. He received many medals and scholarships. Rajendra Babu from Patna's T.K. After getting education in Ghosh Academy, he passed the entrance examination in first class from the University of Calcutta in 1900. He got the highest marks in this examination. Because of this he was praised all over the country.
Role in the National Struggle for IndependenceDr. Prasad practiced in the Calcutta High Court for some time. Later, he joined the Patna High Court. He was getting good income. But. One day Dr. Prasad met Gandhiji. Gandhiji's dedication and patriotism impressed him greatly. He gave up his practice and joined the freedom struggle.
In 1934 AD, there was a heavy earthquake in Bihar. It caused great damage to life and property. At that time Dr. Prasad served the people as a volunteer. They collected food, medicines, clothes and other essential items for the victims. Gradually he became a fully dedicated freedom fighter.
His Political CareerHe was a true follower of Gandhiji's principles. He initiated movements like non-cooperation and salt satyagraha in Bihar. He encouraged people to wear Khadi and use Charkha. He opened a college called Sadaqat Ashram in Patna.
In 1939, Dr. Prasad became the President of Congress. He became the first President of independent India. He played a very important role in the making of New India. Retired in 1962 AD. He was awarded 'Bharat Ratna' for his services. He wrote many famous books like 'Atmakatha', 'Satyagraha in Champaran' and 'Bapu Ke Kadam Mein'.
ConclusionRajendra Babu was a representative of Indian culture and general public, so he was loved by all. He was a living example of simple living and high thinking, he wore Indian clothes all his life, never wearing foreign clothes. He was the embodiment of simplicity and truthfulness. His life inside and outside was the same. He was the first among the followers of Gandhiji. Dr. Prasad passed away on 28 February 1963. We are all proud of them. His dedication towards the nation is unparalleled.
