Introduction | Rainy SeasonIn India, spring is called Rituraj and Varsha is called Riturani. Rain is the life-giving season of water. For an agricultural country like India, the rainy season brings a boon of happiness and good fortune.
It is very hot before the rainy season. The rays of the sun rain embers during the day. Lack of water causes panic among people. People look up to the sky with great hope and pray to God for rain.
Usually, as soon as the month of Ashadh begins, the signs of the arrival of rain start appearing. Seeing the dark clouds in the sky, people dance with joy. The thunder of clouds and thunder of lightning infuse new life among the people. Slowly the drizzling music of rain starts. All the heat, all the anxiety subsides. People welcome Varsharani with joy.
With the advent of rain, the atmosphere becomes cool and pleasant. At the touch of the raindrops, a fragrant smell rises from the earth. Trees and plants become green. Rivers, streams, ponds rise from the water. A rug of green grass is laid on the earth. Animals graze on green cows with great fervor. Sitting on a mango branch, the cuckoo starts cooking. The rainy season is the season of joy and gaiety. There is an atmosphere of joy in Kajri and Malhar in the village chaupals. The girls start swinging by being blown away. Farmers are happy and engaged in plowing and sowing for the Kharif crop. Festivals like 15th August, Rakshabandhan, Janmashtami and Ganeshotsav add four moons to the joy of the rainy season.
Rain is the favorite season of poets and artists. The painters are immersed in the pictures of the beautiful scenery of the rainy season. Sometimes due to heavy rains, there is a terrible flood in the rivers during this season. Crops are destroyed by floods, huts and kutcha houses are destroyed, leaving many people homeless. There is heavy loss of life and property. Diseases like malaria also spread during this season.
If it rains, agriculture will flourish. There will be no famine. Grain won't be expensive. The snow lying on the mountains will quench the thirst of living beings with the water of rivers and streams. The climate will be pure, the earth's garbage will be washed away, Chatak's thirst will be quenched.
There are many disadvantages of rain. People who live on the streets and in huts, spend their time in wet clothes. It becomes difficult for them to get up, sit, sleep and wake up, eat and drink. The rain causes an outbreak of mosquitoes, which, through their bites, donate malaria to humans without asking. Diseases like viral fever, typhoid fever, gastro enteritis, diarrhea, dysentery, cholera etc. are the curse of this season.
Nevertheless, the importance of the rainy season can never be underestimated. How can we forget the blessings of the rainy season, which gives life-like water!
