Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is a day dedicated to the overseas Indian community by the Government of India. It is celebrated every year on 9 January. In the year 2020, the chief guest of the 15th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas held in Varanasi was the Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jagunath. Apart from these, Mr. Himanshu Gulati, Member of Parliament of Norway was invited as the special guest and Member of Parliament of New Zealand Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi was invited as the guest of honour.

In the year 2021, the 16th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. The President of Suriname, His Excellency Mr. Chandrika Prasad Santokhi, was present as the chief guest of the program through video conferencing.
