IntroductionDr. APJ Abdul Kalam was a great Indian scientist. APJ Abdul Kalam's full name was Dr. Avul Pakir Jainuldeben Abdul Kalam. He has been a shining star in Indian history as Missile Man and President. He served the country as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. He was the most eminent person of India because as a scientist and President he had contributed a lot to the country. His life was full of struggle but has been an inspiration to the new generation of India. He was a man who dreamed of making India a developed country. His contribution to 'ISRO' is unforgettable.
Dr. A.P.J. life of abdul kalamDr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was born on 15 October 1931 in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. His family was very poor. He had to work hard to earn money for his studies. He studied at St. Joseph's School and did engineering from 'Madras Institute of Technology'. Dr. Kalam was a very meritorious student from his childhood.
Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam's studiesHis immense interest in flying enabled him to fulfill his dream of aeronautical engineering. Despite being from a poor family, he never stopped his education. He completed his graduation from Tiruchirappalli from Madras Institute of Technology in 1954 and St Joseph's College in Aeronautical Engineering. He joined DRDO in the year 1958 as a Senior Scientific Assistant and led a small team to develop a prototype hovercraft.
Contribution to the development of the nationDr. Kalam served the country in many ways. He has successfully held various positions at the Security Research and Development-Institute and the Indian Space Research-Institute. In ISRO, he was S. Ale. V. was the project instructor. So far, several missiles have been launched under this project. Many projects were led by him like the launch of Rohini-1, Project Devil and Project Valiant, development of missiles (Agni and Prithvi) etc. He is called the "Missile Man of India" for his great contribution in improving India's nuclear power. For his dedicated work, he was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award. After the completion of his term as the President of India, Dr Kalam served the country as a visiting professor in various colleges and universities.
Awards & AchievementsIn 1982, he joined the Research and Development-Organization, Hyderabad as a director. He worked for the Integrated Controlled Missile Development Program. He led the launch-project of various missiles, such as Agni, Akash, Prithvi, Nag, Trishul etc. This was not an easy task for a country like India. But, Dr. Kalam never gave up hope. He kept working towards his goal. Thereafter, he served as the President of India from 2002 to 2007.
Dr. Kalam was a very ordinary person. He loved to study. He also loved classical music and writing poems. He used to encourage children and young students. He wanted to see India as a fully developed country. He was humble as well as intelligent.
ConclusionDr. Kalam received 'Bharat Ratna' for his unique contribution towards the country. He died on 27 July 2015 in Shillong. It was a huge loss for the country. We can never forget his contribution and efforts. His magical quotes will always encourage us to work hard for the progress of the country.
